Dear Friend of SOS,

There’s a reason why we called our kitchen “Unity.” It’s because we wanted to work with other nonprofits and the community to feed and support those who are food deprived and unhoused in Sonoma Valley.

“Unity is strength…When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” –Mattie Stepaneck, American poet and peacemaker

SOS is collaborating with the following nonprofits:

Together, we are trying to prevent people from becoming homeless, and are also helping those who are unhoused to find stable housing through existing County and City supported organizations. We will be adding a new collaborator, Sonoma Family Meal, very soon.

Clients have access to perishable food from ExtraFood, via our community refrigerator.

Pets Lifeline feeds our clients’ four-legged companions.

Next week, SOS will bid a sad farewell to staffer Laura Ramirez, after eight years of outstanding service and compassionate care for those we serve.

SOS is able to operate with the generosity of individuals like you, along with foundations, religious congregations, businesses, and civic groups. The harsh reality of what we are dealing with now is an increase in the cost of groceries, along with a spike in the number of people coming to Unity Kitchen for hot, nutritious meals. In February of this year, we served 178 more unique individuals than we did in February 2024.

Please help SOS continue to keep our doors open, so that together we can end hunger and homelessness during these challenging times.

Many thanks,

Kathy King

Executive Director
