Dear Friend of SOS,
At last it’s spring, and all of us are ready for longer days of sunlight and warmer weather. In the words of Leo Tolstoy, “Spring is the time of plans and projects.”
SOS is designing a new plan to meet the overwhelming cost of providing meals and services to those in Sonoma and Sonoma Valley. With threatened cuts in federal funding for school lunches and food banks, added to rising prices for food and operations, we will soon be facing additional financial pressures.
In the meantime, we are thankful for the support that we receive from local faith-based organizations and civic groups. |

We are grateful to the Church Commodities program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which distributed 1,400 cases (24 pallets) to area food banks, shelters, and nonprofits, including our Unity Kitchen.
This week, thanks to Bill Cash and Good Riddance Hauling, we were able to pick up the LDS donation of 40 cases of canned soups, vanilla pudding, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, dried spaghetti, dish soap, and more. We were able to share this bounty with Meals On Wheels. |

Many thanks to the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley for an extraordinary donation of fresh food items from their “Luck of the Irish” fundraising event: savory corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, coleslaw, potato salad, pasta with peas, and sweet cupcakes.
SOS Head Chef Dan Kahn, Sous Chef Dawn McIntosh, and their dedicated team turned these generous gifts into delicious St. Patrick’s Day meals for the most vulnerable we serve. We’re so fortunate to have such wonderful partners in the Rotary Club.

We are very pleased to welcome back the staff of California LifeLine to sign eligible people up for free phones. During this visit, they gave out 12 phones.
Please be as generous as you can and donate to SOS during these challenging times. It would be extra helpful if you could make a monthly pledge, so that we can keep feeding the hungry, unhoused, and food deprived in our community.
Gratefully,
Kathy King
